THE PROJECT
AERON was developed as a technical and performance apparel concept focused on functional construction,
engineered silhouettes and advanced material performance
The collection explores contemporary technical garments designed to balance protection, mobility and comfort with a refined, modern aesthetic
The development focused on translating each garment into a technically viable product, considering fabric performance, pattern engineering,
movement, construction methods, seam development, hardware and functional detailing
Each style was developed through a complete process of product development, pattern engineering, technical fabric development, sampling,
fit validation, sourcing and manufacturing, taking the collection from initial concept through to production-ready apparel

THE BRIEF
The objective was to create a technical apparel collection that felt:
Functional but refined | Technical but wearable | Performance-led but contemporary
Engineered but comfortable | Durable but lightweight | Commercially viable
The collection was developed around garments designed for movement, protection and everyday performance,
combining technical materials with considered pattern engineering and functional construction
Each style needed to perform beyond its visual concept, with fabric behaviour, mobility, construction,
durability & functional detailing considered from the beginning of development
OUR APPROACH
-
Each AERON garment was developed as a performance product, balancing functional requirements with a refined contemporary aesthetic.
+ Function & Purpose: Defined the performance requirements, intended use and functional priorities of each garment.
+ Silhouette & Proportion: Developed streamlined silhouettes that allow movement without unnecessary volume.
+ Construction: Planned garment architecture, reinforcement areas, openings, pockets and functional components.
+ Mobility: Considered articulation, range of movement and ease through key body areas.
+ Durability: Identified high-stress areas requiring reinforcement, stronger construction or specialised finishing.
+ Production Feasibility: Developed each style around practical manufacturing methods, component availability and repeatable production.
-
Patterns were engineered around movement, technical construction and the specific behaviour of performance fabrics.
+ Technical Blocks: Developed functional base blocks and garment-specific pattern shapes.
+ Movement & Articulation: Built ease and articulation into shoulders, elbows, knees and other movement zones.
+ Panel Construction: Used strategic panel placement to support fit, movement and construction.
+ Seam Allowances: Defined allowances according to seam type, fabric and manufacturing method.
+ Functional Details: Integrated pockets, vents, openings, adjustment points and attachment zones.
+ Grading: Developed size specifications while maintaining the intended performance proportions.
-
Materials were selected and tested according to the functional requirements of each AERON garment.
+ Fabric Performance: Evaluated stretch, weight, breathability, water resistance and durability.
+ Layering: Developed combinations of shell, lining and insulation materials where required.
+ Fabric Behaviour: Tested drape, recovery, compression and construction response.
+ Seam Compatibility: Matched fabrics with appropriate stitching, bonding or finishing methods.
+ Trims & Components: Selected technical zips, elastics, cords, toggles and fasteners.
+ Performance Requirements: Considered abrasion, moisture, movement and repeated wear.
-
Each garment was sampled to validate performance, construction and fit before technical approval.
+ Prototype Development: Produced initial samples from the approved patterns and materials.
+ Fit Testing: Checked shoulder, chest, waist, hip, sleeve and garment lengths.
+ Movement Testing: Assessed mobility, articulation and restriction during movement.
+ Construction Review: Checked seams, panels, pockets, closures and reinforcement areas.
+ Fabric Performance: Reviewed how the selected materials behaved through construction and wear.
+ Refinement: Applied pattern and construction corrections before final technical development.
-
Approved garments were translated into production-ready technical specifications.
+ Technical Drawings: Developed detailed flats showing construction and functional components.
+ Measurements & Tolerances: Defined POMs, grading specifications and acceptable production tolerances.
+ Construction Details: Documented seams, stitch types, reinforcement and finishing requirements.
+ BOM: Specified fabrics, linings, trims, hardware and components.
+ Pattern Files: Prepared final digital patterns and production layouts.
+ Production Specifications: Consolidated technical information into production-ready documentation.
-
Sourcing focused on technical fabrics and components capable of meeting AERON’s performance requirements.
+ Technical Fabrics: Sourced materials according to weight, stretch, durability and performance specifications.
+ Linings & Layers: Selected compatible lining, mesh and secondary materials.
+ Hardware: Sourced technical zips, snaps, toggles, cords, elastics and adjustment systems.
+ Supplier Evaluation: Assessed quality, technical capability, MOQ, lead times and consistency.
+ Material Testing: Validated materials against construction and performance requirements.
+ Costing: Evaluated consumption, components and production quantities to establish viable costs.
-
AERON garments were manufactured using controlled technical construction methods aligned with the approved specifications.
+ Cutting: Controlled grain, stretch direction, panel alignment and material consumption.
+ Assembly: Constructed garments according to approved seam and construction specifications.
+ Technical Seams: Applied appropriate stitching, reinforcement, binding or bonding methods.
+ Component Integration: Installed zips, hardware, elastic, cords and functional components.
+ Finishing: Completed pressing, trimming, seam finishing and final garment preparation.
+ Production Consistency: Controlled construction, dimensions and component placement across production.
THE RESULT
The AERON concept demonstrates a complete technical apparel development pathway:
