THE PROJECT
MONTARA was developed as a luxury hospitality uniform concept designed to combine refined brand presentation
with the practical demands of professional service environments
The collection explores elevated uniforms for premium hospitality settings, balancing polished silhouettes with comfort, mobility and durability across different roles
The development focused on translating each uniform into a technically viable garment, considering staff movement,
repeated wear, fabric performance, functional details, easy-care requirements and consistent brand presentation
Each style was developed through a complete process of product development, functional pattern engineering, material development, sampling, fit validation, technical development, sourcing and manufacturing, taking the collection from initial concept through to production-ready uniforms

THE BRIEF
The objective was to create a luxury hospitality uniform collection that felt:
Polished but functional | Refined but durable | Professional but comfortable
Distinctive but understated | Brand-led but practical | Premium but commercially viable
The collection was developed around the demands of modern hospitality environments, where garments need to maintain
a refined appearance through long working hours, frequent movement and repeated laundering
Each style needed to combine a strong visual identity with practical requirements including comfort, mobility, easy maintenance,
durability, functional storage and consistent fit across multiple staff roles
OUR APPROACH
-
Each MONTARA uniform was developed around the specific requirements of premium hospitality environments, balancing presentation, comfort and operational practicality.
+ Role Definition: Defined the requirements of each garment according to staff function and working environment.
+ Silhouette & Proportion: Developed polished silhouettes that maintain a consistent MONTARA identity across different roles.
+ Functionality: Integrated practical details such as pockets, openings, adjustable elements and movement allowances.
+ Comfort & Mobility: Considered long working hours, repetitive movement, sitting, standing and active service.
+ Durability: Identified high-wear areas requiring reinforced construction and durable finishes.
+ Brand Integration: Incorporated colour, silhouette, detailing and finishing to create a recognisable hospitality identity.
-
Patterns were developed to support professional movement while maintaining a clean, tailored appearance.
+ Role-Specific Blocks: Developed base patterns according to garment type and staff function.
+ Movement & Ease: Built appropriate ease through shoulders, arms, torso, hips and other movement zones.
+ Tailoring: Controlled shaping through darts, panels, seams and structured construction.
+ Pocket Engineering: Positioned and sized pockets according to practical use without disrupting the silhouette.
+ Size Development: Established consistent proportions across the required staff size range.
+ Grading: Graded approved patterns while maintaining fit, balance and visual consistency.
-
Materials were selected for their ability to maintain a premium appearance while performing under demanding hospitality conditions.
+ Fabric Selection: Evaluated wool blends, cotton, linen blends, technical shirting fabrics and performance suiting options.
+ Durability: Considered abrasion resistance, colour retention and repeated wear.
+ Comfort: Evaluated breathability, weight, softness and movement.
+ Easy Care: Prioritised fabrics suitable for frequent laundering, pressing and professional maintenance.
+ Construction Compatibility: Matched fabrics to appropriate stitching, lining and finishing methods.
+ Colour Development: Established a controlled colour palette aligned with the MONTARA identity.
-
Each uniform style was sampled to validate fit, comfort, appearance and practical performance.
+ Prototype Development: Produced initial samples from approved patterns and materials.
+ Fit Testing: Checked shoulder, chest, waist, hip, sleeve and garment lengths.
+ Movement Testing: Assessed mobility during walking, reaching, bending and service activity.
+ Functional Review: Tested pocket placement, closures, openings and adjustable details.
+ Comfort Assessment: Reviewed weight, fabric feel, internal construction and long-wear comfort.
+ Refinement: Applied pattern and construction corrections before technical approval.
-
Approved styles were translated into production-ready specifications for consistent manufacturing.
+ Technical Drawings: Developed detailed flats showing construction and functional details.
+ Measurements & Tolerances: Defined POMs, grading and acceptable production tolerances.
+ Construction Details: Documented seams, stitching, reinforcement, closures and finishing.
+ BOM: Specified fabrics, linings, buttons, zips, labels and other components.
+ Pattern Files: Prepared final digital patterns and production layouts.
+ Uniform Specifications: Consolidated role, sizing, colour and garment requirements for production.
-
Sourcing focused on securing materials and components suitable for premium hospitality use and repeat production.
+ Fabric Sourcing: Selected suiting, shirting, knit and performance fabrics according to specification.
+ Trims & Components: Sourced buttons, zips, labels, linings and functional hardware.
+ Supplier Evaluation: Assessed quality, consistency, MOQ, lead times and production capability.
+ Colour Matching: Controlled fabric and component colours across the uniform collection.
+ Material Testing: Evaluated fabrics for construction, care and repeated-use requirements.
+ Costing: Reviewed consumption, components and production quantities to establish viable uniform costs.
-
MONTARA garments were manufactured using controlled construction methods designed for consistency across staff roles and production quantities.
+ Cutting: Controlled grain, panel alignment and material consumption.
+ Assembly: Constructed garments according to approved technical specifications.
+ Tailoring & Construction: Applied appropriate stitching, interfacing, lining and reinforcement.
+ Component Integration: Installed buttons, zips, labels, pockets and functional elements.
+ Finishing: Completed pressing, thread trimming, edge finishing and final garment preparation.
+ Production Consistency: Controlled measurements, construction and detailing across the uniform range.

The MONTARA concept demonstrates a complete luxury hospitality uniform development pathway:
