THE PROJECT
ELARA was developed as a contemporary natural stone jewellery concept centred around organic forms, natural colour variation and refined silver construction
The collection explores jewellery inspired by the natural character of stones, combining irregular shapes,
polished surfaces and considered metalwork with a modern, feminine aesthetic
The development focused on translating each concept into technically viable jewellery pieces,
considering stone selection, setting methods, proportions, weight, wearability, silver construction and finishing
Each piece was developed through a complete process of jewellery design, material development,
prototyping, technical refinement, sourcing and manufacturing, taking the collection from initial concept through to production-ready jewellery

THE BRIEF
The objective was to create a natural stone jewellery collection that felt:
Organic but refined | Earthy but contemporary | Distinctive but wearable
Feminine without being overly delicate | Natural without feeling rustic | Premium and considered
The collection was developed around the individuality of natural stones, using variations in colour, shape, texture and translucency as key design elements. Silver was selected as the core metal to complement the natural character of the stones while providing a refined,
durable and versatile foundation
Each piece was designed to feel unique through its stone selection and organic form,
while maintaining a cohesive ELARA identity across the collection
OUR APPROACH
-
Each ELARA piece was developed around the physical characteristics of the natural stone, with the silver structure engineered to support and enhance its form.
+ Form & Proportion: Defined stone dimensions, jewellery scale, thickness and overall silhouette for each style.
+ Stone Integration: Developed settings around the stone’s natural shape, including bezel depth, contact points and exposed surface.
+ Silver Construction: Defined metal profiles, thickness, structural supports, connecting elements and component interfaces.
+ Weight & Balance: Controlled stone and silver weight distribution to maintain comfort, stability and correct positioning when worn.
+ Setting & Security: Selected appropriate retention methods based on stone shape, thickness and intended movement of the piece.
+ Surface Development: Specified polished, brushed or textured silver finishes to complement the colour and natural surface of each stone.
+ Production Feasibility: Considered casting, forming, assembly, finishing and repeatability to ensure each design could transition from prototype to production.
-
Material development focused on selecting and refining natural stones and silver combinations that supported the ELARA aesthetic while meeting jewellery production requirements.
+ Stone Selection: Evaluated stones by colour, pattern, translucency, hardness, surface quality and natural variation.
+ Stone Specifications: Defined dimensions, thickness, shape and cut requirements for each jewellery style.
+ Colour Development: Selected complementary stone colours and variations to create a cohesive collection while retaining each stone’s individuality.
+ Silver Specification: Established silver grade, thickness, weight and finish requirements for each piece.
+ Stone & Metal Compatibility: Considered setting requirements, stone sensitivity, contact points and finishing processes when pairing each stone with silver.
+ Surface & Finish: Tested polished, brushed and textured silver finishes to complement the natural character of the stones.
+ Sourcing & Consistency: Assessed supplier availability, quality variation, sizing and repeatability to ensure materials could be sourced consistently for production.
-
Each ELARA piece was developed through detailed jewellery design, balancing the organic character of the natural stones with precise silver construction.
+ Form Development: Refined organic silhouettes, stone contours and overall geometry for each style.
+ Proportion & Scale: Defined stone-to-metal ratios, setting dimensions, band profiles and component sizes.
+ Setting Design: Developed bezels, claws, galleries and supporting structures according to each stone’s shape and thickness.
+ Structural Detail: Designed joins, connectors, bails, clasps, posts and other functional components for secure assembly.
+ Wearability: Considered finger, wrist, neck and ear proportions, movement, weight distribution and comfort.
+ Surface Definition: Specified polished, brushed and textured areas, including transitions between different finishes.
+ Design Refinement: Adjusted curves, edges, negative space and stone placement to maintain the distinctive ELARA aesthetic across all eight styles.
-
Each ELARA design was prototyped to validate the relationship between the natural stone, silver construction and final wearability before production.
+ Prototype Development: Produced initial prototypes to assess the intended form, construction and material interaction.
+ Scale & Proportion: Checked stone dimensions, setting depth, metal thickness and overall jewellery scale.
+ Stone Fit: Validated bezel, claw or alternative setting dimensions against the individual stone.
+ Structure & Security: Tested joins, connections, closures and setting strength to ensure the stone remained securely positioned.
+ Weight & Balance: Assessed overall weight distribution and positioning on the body for comfortable wear.
+ Finish Validation: Reviewed polishing, brushing, texturing and transitions between silver finishes.
+ Refinement: Identified construction or proportion adjustments and incorporated corrections into the final production specifications.
-
The approved ELARA designs were translated into detailed technical specifications and production-ready jewellery files.
+ CAD Development: Created precise 3D models defining the final geometry, stone placement and silver construction.
+ Dimensions & Tolerances: Specified critical measurements, wall thicknesses, setting dimensions and production tolerances.
+ Stone Specifications: Documented stone size, shape, thickness, setting position and acceptable natural variation.
+ Construction Details: Defined bezels, claws, galleries, joins, bails, clasps and other component connections.
+ Material Specifications: Documented silver grade, metal thickness, weight targets and required surface finishes.
+ Manufacturing Requirements: Established casting, forming, assembly, polishing and stone-setting requirements for each style.
+ Production Files: Prepared the technical information and final design files required to move each approved piece into consistent production.
-
Sourcing for ELARA focused on securing natural stones, silver and jewellery components that met the technical specifications established during development.
+ Stone Sourcing: Identified stones matching the required colour, shape, size, hardness and surface characteristics for each design.
+ Silver Sourcing: Specified the required silver grade, sheet/wire thickness, components and material quantities.
+ Stone Consistency: Assessed natural variation in colour, pattern, inclusions and sizing to establish acceptable production tolerances.
+ Component Sourcing: Selected chains, clasps, posts, backs, bails and other findings according to the technical requirements of each piece.
+ Supplier Evaluation: Reviewed supplier quality, material consistency, availability, minimum quantities and production capabilities.
+ Material Testing: Confirmed stone and silver compatibility with the proposed setting, finishing and manufacturing processes.
+ Costing & Availability: Evaluated material consumption, supplier pricing, lead times and availability to establish commercially viable production specifications.
-
ELARA was manufactured through controlled silver production and natural stone setting, with each stage following the approved technical specifications.
+ Material Preparation: Prepared silver and natural stones to the required dimensions, quantities and specifications.
+ Silver Production: Formed or cast components to the approved CAD geometry, maintaining specified thicknesses and tolerances.
+ Stone Preparation: Selected and prepared stones according to approved size, shape, surface quality and setting requirements.
+ Assembly: Integrated silver components, settings, findings and structural elements according to the technical construction.
+ Stone Setting: Secured each stone using the specified setting method, checking alignment, stability and contact points.
+ Finishing: Completed filing, polishing, brushing and surface finishing while protecting the natural stones.
+ Final Adjustment: Checked dimensions, joins, closures, weight and overall construction before final approval.
+ Production Consistency: Controlled repeatability across styles to ensure each finished piece matched the approved prototype and technical specifications.
